What We're Doing
We need your help:
We rely on consistent contributions to support our programs and efforts to reach and assist children in need.
Along with our primary mission of sponsoring children in secondary school and promoting their education, we're also involved in a number of other community development projects.
Construction has begun on The Little Inn, a joint venture with the Taraja Boys Home that will cater to the Daystar University community.
Mitumba Development
Mitumba is a slum located in Nairobi and has been overlooked for a long time by many development organizations and the community as a whole. KKM is trying to do all they can to assist this community as the MAJORITY of the community is youth and children.
Children’s Voices
Each year Childlife Trust, (the biggest networking organization of children’s organizations in Kenya), organizes a conference called Children’s Voices. This conference is a two day event where youth throughout Kenya gather in Nairobi to share their views and ideas concerning issues they face and how they relate to Kenya. This year is an election year so the they topics they will focusing on are “We need Leaders, not Politicians”, and “Government listen to us, we are crying.” Over 1,000 children will be involved in this conference, and will be able to share their opinions and ask questions to the leaders of Kenya who will be in attendance, including those running for president and the current vice president. The total budget for this conference is just over 1 million shillings, KKM hopes to pay 10% of these costs, that’s 100,000 Kenya shillings. This years Conference will take place on the 11th and 12th of April. Please click here for more info on this conference.
Other Side of The Street Exhibition
For the last 13 years Childlife Trust, (the biggest networking organization of children’s organizations in Kenya), has organized a week long exhibition that aims at bringing together ALL organizations that deal with children in difficult circumstances. The organizations are able to exhibit their skills in making art and craft items with the purpose of selling them to members of the public. The exhibition also aims at changing the negative attitude towards street children, from worthless beings to a people of destiny who have hope for their future. There are many activities carried out during this week, of which KKM will be closely involved. We are currently on the organizing board of this years exhibition and will be teaching classes during the exhibit on infrastructure development and will also advertise for the work we are doing. The conference will be held at the Sarit Center and happen toward the end of June. The budget for this year is not yet finalized but we hope to be able to give 10% of the final budget.
