Kenya Kids Ministries

Why We're Here

Throughout Kenya children are suffering. The statistics are overwhelming. Poverty, disease, abuse, war, and so many other issues cause children to flee home and turn to the streets. Children growing up on the streets lack most of life’s basic necessities and are exposed to harsh living conditions. These children struggle to survive and live without much hope.

The daily suffering of these children has caused many people to try to do what ever they can to help. Often times these people and organizations have the best intentions but yet they lack necessary skills or resources. Throughout Kenya there are so many organizations with good intentions trying to help children, but due to their lack of resources, corruption, and self-interests, these organizations begin to compete with each other for funds and resources. When this happens it is the children that suffer.

Several years ago as Kenya Kids Ministries was being brainstormed and inspired, the question as to whether or not having another children’s home established in Nairobi was a good idea or bad idea. Rather than beginning a home that would compete with other existing homes we saw that we could help more children by coming alongside of existing organizations to support them in fulfilling their missions. As we come alongside of these organizations we form strong relationships and through these relationships we get to know the way these organizations work and what their needs are.

Our focus is helping children in need. By equipping established organizations and helping meet their resource needs, they are then able to work more effectively with the children they have and are able to open their doors to more children in need. Our work extends beyond co-venturing with established groups and reaches out directly to children. We come alongside children and compassionately get to know who they are, and if there is a need we do all we can to help meet that need.
